Senegal suspends TikTok, says hurting the stability of the country

Senegal has suspended access to TikTok “until further notice”, citing concerns over “hateful and subversive messages” spread on the platform threatening stability. The country had restricted access to internet services earlier this week after protesters took to the streets when opposition leader Ousmane Sonko was charged with planning an insurrection and criminal conspiracy. Senegal has seen sporadic violent protests throughout the year as opposition supporters accuse President Macky Sall of trying to disqualify Sonko from the next election. Tech group Restic had previously filed a complaint against Tiktok.
